We switched things up a bit today. We did writing first thing and then math later. I had the students work on an assessment for writing this morning. They all wrote to a prompt for a benchmark at the beginning of the year. Everyone did well! In math today, we worked on regrouping when adding. This is a work in progress. We mainly focused on regrouping in the ones place. Tomorrow we will focus on regrouping in the tens place. We did work with this on paper too.
In word work, we talked about short e and short u words. Then we highlighted (fun!) all of these words in 2 poems. It was really fun using highlighters!
This afternoon, we took a closer look at Chester's Way, a Kevin Henkes book. Tomorrow we will correlate all of our information about these books into a final paper. We did the workboard and then had writing share.
