Happy Monday and welcome back! It was a pretty smooth re-entry, considering the kiddos are very excited to see one another again. We reviewed subtraction across zeros by rebuilding numbers. For example, 500 is 5 hundreds and 4 hundreds, 10 ones and 4 hundreds, 9 tens, 10 ones. This was tricky for some. We will keep reviewing subtraction until the test on Friday. Any help at home would be fabulous!
In reading today, we learned about 3 new words: baubled, bangled and draped. These were in the poem that we read for shared reading. We also learned about a new form for the listening center and for write about reading. Next were work jobs.
This afternoon, we read The Night Tree by Eve Bunting and began to discuss traditions. Part of our social studies unit is to talk about traditions. Students are being asked to talk about family traditions for homework and I have a post on Kidblog about traditions. Thank you for your help with the paper part of the homework. In word work, we got our new words. To end our day, we made snowmen glyphs to decorate the MPR for the concerts tomorrow and Wednesday.
